Week 1 Challenge

If you missed the 365 Day Challenge that I’m doing this year, you can click that link to find out about it. It’s #3 on the list.

My first week wasn’t that productive, but I didn’t expect it to be, as things happen the first week.

However, I did change some of the plans I listed here. They are basically still the same, as far as this blog goes, but I’ve added some other focus areas to my overall plan.

I also read Nicole Dean’s post on not doing any resolutions. Instead, people are choosing one to three words that describe how they want their year to be. It’s like a mantra, a focus word. I ended up with 7. Yikes! I need to narrow those down to 3. I just don’t know which ones it’ll be as they all fit some area of my life and are things I need to concentrate on.

I don’t want to draw them from a hat either. They need to “pick” me. The three that did strike me the most were wealth, abundance and gratitude. Neither of those necessarily equal money either. Don’t get me wrong, I want to make boat loads of money, but that’s not the reason I want to do the things I do. If I don’t feel good about them and if I can’t help others find direction or feel good about themselves, then no amount of money will ever fulfill that desire.

Three other words that struck me were action, discipline and mastery. All of those need daily attention from me. So you can see why it’s a bit hard to choose 3. Maybe this method wasn’t ready for me. The final word is compassion, which is something that almost all people need to work on. Even if you rock the compassion world, you can always do more.

Maybe in my next post I’ll have my words narrowed down, or I’ll just choose my own special word. One thing I still need to do is break my big list down into weekly action steps. I plan to work on that this weekend.

On Sunday we take my daughter back to college. The trip always wears me out, so that day won’t include much work or planning, but I get my living room back. :)

Enough about me. How was your first week of the New Year? Leave your thoughts and all in the comment section.

Hugs!
Patti

I started out with 15 words from the list. From those, I found 3 main words. Here’s my thought process and at the end is the one word I came up with to incorporate the rest of the list.

My three main words are: Health, Action, Discipline/Commitment

health–no question about it, my health is not good. It needs to be at the forefront of all my decesions moving forward.
action–action in and of body as well as of the mind. Action also in acting upon the thoughts to do something instead of thinking it to death and never starting out on the mission.
discipline/commitment–to me, these are essentially the same thing. Have the discipline to commit daily in every action, whether in my business/hobby pursuits or in my health pursuits or even in pursuit of family perseverence.

Working daily with these three words in mind will bring about more confidence in myself which ultimately, has me making positive changes in my everyday life.

After a while, these positive changes will bring about mastery in my skills which, in turn, will lead to adventure and exploration in my pursuits and daily life.

I would add that prayerfulness should be a part of daily life. So then there’s four actual words.

For me, I believe that working through these words over a lifetime will bring freedom/joy/peace and more compassion for myself, my family and others met along the way.

Ultimately, I realized ACTION is the one thing I need to repeat in all my endeavors. Action of body, mind and spirit. Just move, do, be. Stop letting things happen and start making things happen. Yep, that’s the one. :)

Awesome, Maria! I see you put a lot of thought into it and this was not our thinking week. LOL

I need to sit down and focus on my words, really mull them over. I know they won’t be carved in stone or anything, but they should be a daily inspiration and something that drives me.

Action is another BIG word for me. I stay busy, but busy work isn’t the same as productive work, so I need to master the productive work to enjoy the busy work. :) In fact, Action may be one of my key words.

Peggy Baron said her focus last year was “Go Bold” and it worked very well for her. I may also adopt that word too.

Going to ponder on it for awhile. I think I’ll play some Vivaldi while I think.
