Wednesday Writing Sprint – January 25, 2012

Welcome to the Wednesday Writing Sprints.

Wednesday writing sprints are here! Feel free to jump right in. It doesn’t matter which genre you write in, all are welcome. Fiction, freelance, lyrics, poetry—just be a writer today.

This event happens one day per week. It’s when you dedicate the entire day strictly to writing sprints. Try to turn off email, social media–anything that distracts you and just write.

The time can be spent outlining characters, plots, scenes, etc. or it can be spent using it for a writing marathon or getting caught up on freelance work. The focus is to simply devote more time to your writing.

Enjoy and share your progress throughout the day in comments.

  • If you don’t have a timer, be sure to download something like cool timer. That’s the one I use. I love it!
  • You can race the clock for however long you like; 30, 45 or 60 minutes. I prefer 30 minutes. I get more done if I don’t give myself too much time. See what works best for you.
  • Post your progress in the comments section.
  • It’s not about word counts–not a daily count, at least.
  • It’s about planting your butt in the chair and being a writer and writing as many words as you can in a 30 minute race against the clock.

The most important thing is….HAVE A BLAST & KICK SOME WORD ASS!

Happy Writing Sprints!

Be sure to visit the Free Reports page. I recently added a Freelance Success Report for you to download. Enjoy! :)

    Howdy!

I’m just signing in but haven’t exactly decided what I’m going to write today. I’ve got a whole heap of emails that I need to wade through so I’m going to get that out of the way first and then decide.

I hope everyone is doing well and I hope your headaches are a little better, Patti!

    Morning Everyone!

Was up early and started writing by 5am as my hubby had to leave early for work. Finished up a report for a client and just sent it off to them.

My goal for today is to write 5 articles approx 500 words each for my new membership site. Plus 5 product reviews to go with them. This will complete all of my content. Then it is just a matter of working on a sales page and hooking up the membership software. Being a real pain at the moment but will have all day to figure it out tomorrow!

Look forward to seeing what everyone else has planned for today. Just finished exercising for the day and off to make some coffee before starting on the articles.

    Good morning Sue.

It sounds like you have a good day planned. It’s raining here. I love cloudy, overcast days, but the rain makes me want to curl up and do nothing.

I have 11 hand written articles I need to transcribe today and one blog post. So, I guess I’ll spend the day talking to myself. Which is not unusual, but at least today I’ll end up with words in the computer instead of just jabbering to myself. LOL

I don’t know if you checked last week’s comments, but I did reply. The new site is looking great.

Well, I’m off to get my brain in speaking/working mode. Will check in later.

Hi Patti, I did see your reply last week thanks. Just looking at WPSales Buddy it is on sale for $10 and could be a membership solution. Will see don’t want to get distracted yet!

    Good morning! :D

I’ve got a new scene to write in my story for K, then the rest of the day is my own…until about 3:30 or so. I plan to write some character journals and work on a story I started writing yesterday…a kind of AU Raven short.

    Good luck, all!

Oh, it has an affiliate add-on and an email add-on too. Haven’t checked to see if you can use on multiple sites, but if you can, that’s a much better deal than aMember.

My articles are transcribed, at least. I hate to see the damage. Sometimes, the Dragon does not like my voice. LOL

I don’t know if I’ll do any edits or take a break. There’s a teleconference I’d like to catch at 2:00 today. I think I still want to anyway. It may be more than my brain wants to deal with.

I thought the rain would help what ever is causing my sinuses to be so annoying, but it hasn’t. I’m starting to get a headache, despite taking meds early hoping to keep it at bay.

I may take that break and put a warm, moist towel on my face. Heck, that feels good when you don’t have a headache. ;)

    Howdy ladies! :)

Looks like everyone is doing well and staying busy. :) I had planned to be working out first draft notes for a new story but ended up brainstorming instead. Makes sense though–I’ve got to have an idea of what’s going on before starting that first draft, right? :D

Rainy day doesn’t begin to cover how much rain we’ve had here in AR. I had to retrieve my kid early from school because I didn’t think I’d make it back out to pick him up this afternoon. Funny how that couple of inches turned into a very water logged and flooded area of the county that hasn’t even been mentioned in any of the watches/warnings.

I was gonna say keep up the great work and Woo Pig Sooie…but then, that’s for football games and not writing. My brain’s just a wee bit tired. :) How ’bout this? Write On!

This silly thing decided to spam Nathan’s comments.

I have added that checkbox to prove you aren’t a spammer. I may have to remove that since it’s hard to spot.

He hasn’t been ignoring us. He’s just been lost in the shuffle.

    Thanks, Maria!

I am back now. Patti banned me and pretended that I was in the spam folder! Can you believe that?!

Anyway, today I decided to start on next month’s PLR membership content – I figured that I may as well start early while I’m in the mood. I wrote 4 1,000 word product reviews and then decided to work on a PLR request. Not too bad for today.

I seem to have a lot more emails so I’ve got to go and get through those. I seem to be swamped in emails lately and it’s a job just trying to keep up with them.

Sue, I wanted to say last week that your membership looks amazing! (But Patti had me in the spam last week also!). I’m sure you’re going to get lots of members!

And hey, Lois! I hope you are well. I would have said hello earlier but, did I mention, Patti banned me and put me in the spam folder?

    :)

      Hi Everyone

Thanks for the encouraging words Nathan just have to get the techy part done. Almost finished what I had planned for the day. Got my five articles written but had a express request from a client for some material so got that done and sent to him as well.

Hope your headache is getting better. I have had a sore throat for days, think it is this crazy weather. We have gone from 10 C down to -10 C within a couple of days. Our snow melted like crazy then froze and now it is trying to snow again. Anyway have the woodstove on to help warm us up.

Hi Maria and Lois glad to see you here hope you had a great day.

I must move somewhere I can learn to speak in Celsius. We use that F scale here. LOL
One day, I want to see at least 3 feet of snow on the ground.

I miss wood heat, but I sure don’t miss the work involved or the mess it can make. I always had a pot of beans or something on top of the wood stove. :)

The wood can be messy but we have a free supply here! Plus with the price of filling up your oil tank close to $1,000 a time a little wood mess is fine!

I think -10 C is around 14 F but that doesn’t mean much too me either. Know it is cold but we have had -29 temperatures the other week which is -20 F. Thank goodness for online converters!

    ROFLMAO @ Nathan. Love it!

However, if you didn’t write like ten gazillion million billion words per day and make us older people look slooooow, I might let you play more often. ;P

I disabled that spam checkbox. It’s the only thing I can think of that is causing problems. Well problems here, I can think of lots of things that cause problems everywhere else. LOL

Ha! I was listening to Air1 this morning, and they mentioned the best places to raised kids…mainly the northeast and the northern midwest. Then they moved on to the worst states, which were a bit further south. The second state they mentioned was Arkansas. LOL Yeah, I can see that! :P

Can you tell I hate Arkansas? ;) (And Maria, that woo pig sooie just makes it about 100x worse, as does that ugly razorback hog…but I guess that’s just me! :P)

Anyway, I’m getting a headache, too. I think it’s from lack of sunshine, honestly. It’s been pretty dark and cloudy all day.

I’ve written about six new pages in my story for K. Now I’m going to take a break for a shower, role play, and dinner, then I plan to work on my own stuff after that. I’ll check in again tonight!

Hello, Nathan. Nice to see that Patti returned you to the masses! ;)

Sue: I hope you have a great day, too!

I wasn’t going to go there. But now that you mention it…LOL. I hate football and too many FB ppl do the Hawg ball thing. I “love” to post when it ends up being a pig roast! HA!

See, you are not alone, Lois. :)

I don’t hate football, but it bores me to tears. So does baseball. Now, soccer I can deal with. Love the game, but don’t get to watch it often. And I just discovered Rugby last year, but I can’t watch that, either! :(

    Hahahaha! Pig Roast!!!!! :D

Thank God I’m not alone. ;)

Hello, I’m back from a long, rain-and-lack-of-proper-sleep-induced nap. (ducking) :)

Lois & Patti, I thought it (the pig sooie) but had to put it on here just for you gals. :D

Now it’s back to work on the story notes, currently in chapter 2.

Congratulations on the day’s work everyone! Despite it being in the middle of winter, we are still making progress. Salute! :)

  15. Lois says:

Maria: my cousin is a HUGE Hogs fan. Needless to say, I don’t talk to him about football. Ever. LOL

I only managed to add a character journal to the day’s work, but that’s it.

I still consider it a good day’s work when you consider it’s been very dark and rainy here today, and I developed a headache earlier.

And tomorrow’s another day. I’ll write more then.

Now, I’m going to get ready for bed. I need SLEEP. :)

Good luck to anyone still writing, and congrats to all of you who made progress today!
