What brought me to this site was my getting so tired of hearing 'scared' when 'afraid' was called for. Keep up the good work!
And if you want some fun with language try this: Espero el autobús. Espero será a tiempo. Espero esto no llegue tarde. [I -wait- for the bus. I -expect- it will be on time. I -hope- it will not be late.] Three verbs [in Eng] and only one in Spanish. On afraid/scared Romance languages plus German and Russian note that there is a difference.

"... even for us native speakers" I believe "us" assumes that readers of this site are all native English speakers. That may not be the case so a better opening statement could be written by omitting "us".

I am so glad I found your site Patti! In my writing I often wonder if I have chosen the correct word or punctuation. Your site is a great resource for these questions to be answered! You have so much good information on here! Please keep it going! :-)

-Keith
