Be What You Are: Wearing the Right Hat

When you feel it’s a dead end street

For a few years I’ve tried to be a marketer. I tried to change titles from writer to marketer. The truth is, I AM a writer. It’s what I do. It’s what I’m good at. Since coming full circle and embracing what I am truly am, my confidence has soared again. Being a marketer felt like a dead-end to me. Wrong timing, doesn’t fit me, whatever. It’s just not my title.

You see, when I got out of “writing for pay” several years ago, I knew I was damn good at it. I might have been a bit cocky about it (there’s a thin line between cocky and confident–and I was confident, but I like to think I was cocky. lol) I grabbed this marketer hat, felt like a total newbie (and still do in that area) but it [...] Continue Reading…

What You Need to Get Started As a Paid Writer Online

Well, I can honestly say I’ve tried several ways online to make money, and the one that has always worked best for me is paid writing. I’ve walked away from it several times in search of something bigger and better, but the truth is, for me at least, there isn’t a bigger or better.

I have a PLR store and while I’m good at the writing, I suck at the marketing. The marketing part takes a big chunk of time if you want to be a success at something like that. At least that’s how it is for me. Other people have had more success. Perhaps it’s their “thing.” When something resonates with you, you seem to be a success at it. I’m not giving up my PLR store, but I do know when it’s time to return to my roots—writing for other people and getting paid for it. More [...] Continue Reading…

Why Engaging Your Audience is Crucial in Online Business

You’ve heard all of the phrases; traffic generation, lead generation, conversion rate, bounce rate, yadda, yadda, blah, blah, blah! For newbies, and many other bloggers those are just a bunch of jargon. I’m not saying you don’t need some knowledge of what they actually mean, but you’re more interested in having an audience and having that audience respond to you. It doesn’t matter how small it is, when people interact with you and things you’ve written, it makes you feel good. Once you start getting a few interactions, you naturally want more. Right?

So what if you’re having trouble getting people to engage with you? Is it really that important? Well, yes it is. In the beginning of your blogging adventure you probably don’t expect much interaction, but after awhile it gets boring and may lead to you giving up because you aren’t getting any results. So let’s discuss why [...] Continue Reading…

What is This Time Management You Speak Of?

What is this time management thing?

Time management? Well, I know I’ve been busy lately, hence the lack of posting here on the blog. I’m getting some “behind-the-scenes” things knocked out and getting ready for some new stuff to work on.

My biggest time issue is social media. I feel it’s important to be social,  but at the same time, I have to step away from it when I’m on a roll with work. Even though I haven’t been blogging and I’ve been lacking in the social arena, I have kept up with a little blog reading.

I’d like to share two posts today that are very good, for time management and for cutting out the excuses and getting things done. The first is one Amanda shared on kicking some excuses in the ass. Go see if any of those fit you, and figure out what you can do [...] Continue Reading…

Ten Tips for Successful Affiliate Marketing

I love affiliate marketing.
I’ve been looking for what makes a good affiliate marketer and I’ve come up with these ten tips. If you have others, feel free to share your thoughts in the comment section.

1. Diversify the products you promote
You need to create stable income by promoting a wide diversity of products for different companies or people. You can never be sure how long a particular product will continue to sell successfully so try not to put all your eggs in one basket.

However, if you’re a complete newbie, you will want to start with only promoting a few products. It’s easier to keep up with that way. Unless you’re super organized, it could drive you crazy promoting a bunch of products.
2. Test Drive It!
Trying to start up too many sites and affiliate programs when you start out as an affiliate marketer can [...] Continue Reading…
